Was originally The Screwball / Cloudcuckoolander, later developed by Chuck Jones (and Friz Freleng, even more so) into a Jerkass Small Name, Big Ego, most famously paired with Bugs Bunny as the Odd Couple, but is also frequently set up against Porky Pig, who works as The Comically Serious and Deadpan Snarker to Daffy's hijinks. He was the first of the new breed of "screwball" characters that emerged in the late 1930s to supplant traditional everyman characters, such as Mickey Mouse and Porky Pig. Daffy Duck is a Looney Tunes character created by Tex Avery (although Bob Clampett contributed to Daffy's personality) in 1937.
